Please see additional, important information on the Disclosures & Notices page.

Q:  What areas do you serve?

A:  We currently serve the Denver Metro Area, and most all of the areas surrounding Denver, from Summit County to Colorado Springs to Longmont.  Some service areas vary farther or closer, depending on the level of buyer interest, so please inquire.

Q:  How and when will someone come to look at my vehicle?

A:  The Buyer or Buyers who are interested will contact you, and you can make one-on-one arrangements with them after discussing your vehicle.  We expect a high degree of courtesy from our Associates, such as keeping their appointments and fulfilling their promises to you.  Please be courteous to our Buyers as well by keeping your appointments and informing the Buyer if your plans change.

Q:  Are their any limits to condition and year of vehicle?

A:  No, but the used market is becoming more limited with the oversupply of older cars.  Generally speaking, cars older than 1995 have a more limited demand, but we will offer it to our Buyers and you will be contacted by those interested Buyers.  Some Buyers are specialists at rebuilding or recycling vehicles, so any condition will be considered even down to those considered salvage or junk.  Newer vehicles, with one major problem like a bad engine or transmission, are preferred by some of our specialists, so never hesitate to call 303-933-8590 for an offer.

Q:  What defects should I disclose to the Buyer?

A:  Be honest with the Buyer, and disclose as much as possible.  The Buyers are generally experts or seasoned automotive people who are there to assist you and who will spot or know of many of your vehicles potential defects.  The more honest you are the better your transaction will be.  Also, if a car doesn't start or run, for example, a Buyer might have to simply expect the worst and assume their is major engine damage, and therefore their offer or interest will be lowered.  The more you disclose, the more you can trust each other and work towards solving your vehicle needs.

Q:  Do you sell used parts?

A:  Yes, we sell some parts or have access to good sources for parts, but we do not stock extensive inventory.  If you have a specific part in mind, please contact us, telling us what part you are looking for.

Q: How do you make money by referring Buyers to me?

A:  As a Buyer's Agent, the Buyers we refer to you pay us a nominal fee for cars they buy.  We search for reputable and trusted Buyers, and generally work with them on an ongoing basis. Your feedback to us about our services and the Buyer's courtesy and actions are important. The advantage to our Buyers is that it greatly enhances their opportunity to find cars they are specifically interested in, and they pay no costs for ads, etc.  They save time by not viewing cars they don't want, while only paying a low fee to us when they buy cars.  Buyers are also not paying higher markups that would be charged if we or any one else became 'middlemen' in the transaction.  You get more cash and the Buyer pays less...it is that simple.  Buyers and sellers must remain vigilant and please refer to disclosure page for more important information.

Q:  Will the Buyer pay me cash for my vehicle?

A:  In most cases, yes.  Buyers are specifically asked to pay you cash or certified funds unless they make other arrangements with you.  Appointments set after business hours, the amount of the transaction, and other circumstances can change payment options.  [Also, Buyers and Sellers note: Any cash (vs. check, etc.) transactions over $10,000 must be reported to the IRS.]  We will assist you and the Buyer as much as possible, but the ultimate transaction is between you and the Buyer, so your diligence is important.  Accept the method of payment you're comfortable with, and ask the Buyer ahead of time if you have questions about this.  We will assist you in any way possible

Q:  What offer will the Buyer make, and when will they make their final offer?

A:  As your car is being offered to serious buyers and most likely multiple buyers, your ability to get an optimum and quick offer is maximized.   The offer and acceptance of that offer are up to you and the Buyer.  That being said, there has been a very poor used car market overall.  With an oversupply of used cars and great deals on new cars, book values are severely depressed. This is especially true if there are repairs required, high mileage, or other factors involved.  Being realistic, and knowing that all cars take time, money, effort, equipment, paperwork, to be rebuilt are important.  All used cars are unique, and the final offer generally can only be made after a quick inspection of the vehicle by the Buyer.  It is entirely up to you whether you accept or reject any offers.  We want all parties to act fairly and in good faith, so please tell us if you have any questions or problems.

Q:  If I have a vehicle with little or no value...will some Buyers simply offer to remove my vehicle for free?

A:  Yes, if a severely damaged/salvage or or junk vehicle with little or no value is offered, a specialized towing company or similar associate in our network may contact you to offer their services, and they will recycle or salvage the vehicle for you.  Please note the next question, however.

Q:  What if I have 'parted out' my own car, and want what's left hauled off?

A:  We will refer you to one of our towing associates, but title to the vehicle will still be required, and if the vehicle is without tires, stored in an inaccessible place, etc., there can be excessive time, tow truck damage or other problems.  If a car is nearly parted out, there is also less recycle value and options are limited.  Please be specific about these issues if you ask for an offer.

Q:  How will the transaction be handled and the title transferred?

A:  The title transfer and transaction is between you and the Buyer, and the Buyer is responsible for proper signatures and their placement.  The Buyer may offer to furnish a Bill of Sale, Affidavits, Motor Vehicle Power of Attorney, or other forms to help things go smoothly.  It is unlikely, but please cooperate with your Buyer if other forms are needed at a later time, as different jurisdictions and differing circumstances could mean that a other forms are needed later on.  Always ask for and keep the Buyer's name and phone number--For your own records and in case we contact you to see how the transaction went for you.

Q:  I recently applied for title or lost my title.  Can I still sell my car?

A:  Yes, but let the Buyer know this ahead of time, and you are responsible for delivering the title or duplicate title. Your Buyer can help you with the details.

Q:  How and when will my vehicle be removed, if sold?

A:  The Buyer will arrange to have the vehicle removed or towed away, and if there are special requirements or time issues, let the Buyer know this.  If you have any problems with your Buyer in this or any other regard, please tell us

Q:  Do I need to worry about emissions tests?

A:  Many of the vehicles we find are in need of some repairs, and are simply being sold As-Is.  It is a good idea to state this to your Buyer if you do not have a new emission test with the vehicle.  If you want further verification, please have the Buyer furnish you a Bill of Sale stating 'sold as-is, where is, tow-away, without emission test', or something similar that is approved and acceptable by you and your local jurisdiction.

Q:  My car has new parts...Does it help the value?

A:  Unfortunately, while they help show that the car was maintained, new parts are never going to raise the value of a car on a 'dollar for dollar' basis.  And also keep in mind that if you start removing recently installed parts, the car quickly looses value and will eliminate many potential Buyers.

Q:  What if I want to keep my Radio/Stereo, or other parts and accessories?

A:  Just as in the question above, it is very detrimental to the car's value if you remove parts.  It is not so much the value of the component, but the cost and time of replacement, and the damage that's possible from quick, unprofessional removal.  Stereos lose their value quickly once they are installed, and the reduction in value of your vehicle with no radio/stereo can be also be high.  We therefore suggest leaving stereos and other components in place, or at least offer the Buyer the option of buying the components installed and with the car.  ALSO, IF STEREOS OR OTHER PARTS/COMPONENTS WERE IN THE CAR WHEN AN OFFER WAS ACCEPTED, AND NO OTHER AGREEMENT WAS MADE, THEY ARE PART OF THE VEHICLE TRANSACTION AND CANNOT BE REMOVED AFTER THE FACT.

Q:  What other items should I leave with the car when it is sold?

A:  Beside all normal, installed items, owner's manuals (if possible), service records (if possible), spare tire, jack, floor mats, locking lug nuts and their key, and similar items, unless specifically excluded, should be left with the vehicle.

Q:  What if I want notified when CarHandlers has located a car I'd like to buy?

A:   If you are looking for vehicle, or want to trade your current vehicle, we will gladly refer you to one of our Associates if you wish.   If you are an automotive professional or serious car hobbyist, you can become a CarHandlers Associate and receive updated listings of vehicles available.

Q:  If my car is at an impound yard, tow yard, or body shop, after an accident, theft, etc., are Buyers still interested?

A:  Yes, depending on the vehicle, the damage, the specific yard involved, etc. Please inquire, making note of the yard or storage situation, and ask for an offer.

Q:  If my car has a 'Salvage Title', odometer problem, previous damage, or flood damage, are Buyers still interested?

A:  Yes, but it may limit which of our Buyers are most interested.  Please disclose salvage, flood, odometer or title discrepancies, and other problems when you request an offer.  You should also have any buyer of a salvage or previously salvaged vehicle sign a disclosure stating that you have told the buyer about the salvage issue.
